Perseus in Andromeda's Galaxy

Perseus in Andromeda's Galaxy, 2019

Resin, hand-tied fishing flies, silicone infant, metal wire, flowers

22 in x 18 in diameter

An oversized cast-resin light bulb framing a microcosm drawn from the Greek myth of Perseus and his rescue of Andromeda. The bulb reads as a vessel, or perhaps a spaceship, for the adventurous hero, surrounded by remnants of nature: plants, roses, and his favorite toy, a dead bird whose once-white wings have begun to turn black. The wall text closes by asking what message the bird is whispering in Perseus' ear.
